The first-annual Fido Fest, festival of the arfs on Nov. 2 in South End raised $2000 for CMPD Animal Care & Control. The festival included a 1-mile “2×4 dog walk” down the Rail Trail and “pooch party” on Carson Street, which featured six rescue groups, food trucks, costume contests, training lessons and other dog-friendly events.
More than 1,000 people (and at least 200 dogs) attended Fido Fest, which ran from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Several South End businesses sponsored dog houses in the “dog house-o-rama,” which were donated to the Coalition to Unchain Dogs. Balfour Beatty constructed a special dog house fit for a king, which is being auctioned online. Current bids are over $500, and proceeds will benefit the Coalition to Unchain Dogs
